Therapy Myths Busted: What Really Happens in That Room

Let's be honest - therapy has some serious PR problems. Thanks to movies and TV, people think it's all lying on couches talking about your childhood while some stuffy person with a clipboard judges you silently.

Reality check: That's not how this works.

Here's what therapy with me actually looks like:

Myth 1: "You'll psychoanalyze everything I say"Nope. We're having real conversations about real problems. If you mention your mum, I'm not immediately thinking "aha! childhood trauma!" Sometimes people just want to vent about their mum being annoying.

Myth 2: "I have to lie on a couch"My therapy space has comfy chairs. Bella (my Cavapoo ESA) might steal the best spot though.

Myth 3: "You'll tell me what's wrong with me"Actually, you're the expert on your own life. I'm here to help you figure out what works for YOU, not to diagnose your entire personality based on how you hold your coffee.

Myth 4: "Therapy takes years"Some people benefit from longer-term work, others get what they need in a few months. We work at your pace, not some arbitrary timeline.

The Reality: Therapy is collaborative. We're figuring things out together. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes there are tears, sometimes we problem-solve like we're planning a heist (but for your mental health).
